Government announces 20,000 new police officers

Juliette welcomes the progress that is being made towards the recruitment of an additional 20,000 new officers across England and Wales.

This represents the largest increase in officers for many years and is a welcome addition to assist with increasing crime demand and complexity, improved service to the public from investment in 101 call handling and additional investigators to tackle complex crime. Further developments in tackling cyber crime are also in the pipeline.

Juliette said:  "The first duty of Government is keeping our citizens safe both at home and abroad and I welcome this financial boost aimed at improving frontline services which all the British public will benefit from."
